About Me - Armando

Hello Dear Readers,

My name is Armando Jesus Aguilar Rodriguez. Yes, I know, everyone tells me why do I have such a long name. Allow me to tell you the reason behind it. I was born in Mexico City, Mexico on May 29, 1990. Tradition is extremely important in my country. In Mexico, newborns get a first name, middle name and father's last name, followed by the mother's last name. The middle name is the most difficult to chose, but it wasn't for my parents. I was born premature, six months and three weeks to be exact. I was born with a cleft right foot and doctors gave my parents less than 65 percent chance that I would survive. As the devoted and believing Catholics that my parents are, they promised that if I could survive the next three to five months in an incubator as well as a surgery for my cleft foot, that they would give me Jesus as a middle name. Abracadabra and voila, little Armando Jesus triumphed over his first life obstacles. The doctors told my parents that I would never be able to roller skate nor play soccer, or as we know it 'futbol."
I lived in Mexico City for nine years before moving to the potato state - Idaho. I resided in Boise Idaho for about another nine years where I attended elementary school (fun fact: a gunman entered are school and were locked in. I was desperate to use the restroom and had to due my duties in a glass jar and all my classmates saw me due to a mirror that reflected my actions. The gunman was found in the boy's restroom and was arrested. No one was harmed, but my dignity was destroyed.) Junior high school and high school.
I moved to god-forgotten Ontario, Oregon for community college. I played soccer for the team, was a Regional Officer for Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, President of Diversity Club, Public Informations Officer for Treasure Valley Community College, and Vice President for the International Business Club.
Let's fast-forward the part I drive 70+ hours across the nation to come to "the city that never sleeps -New York." I moved here to attend The Kings College in the Empire State Building, now day located in Wall Street. After just one year of classes at Kings, I expanded my horizons and transferred to (drum roll) Baruch College (applauses and cheering). I am now in my third semester at Baruch and am currently playing soccer for the college. I work full-time and attend classes full-time...oh I am also married !
I plan to finish my undergraduate studies in International Business at the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch by summer 2013 and start graduate school right away.
My favorite team is Fc Barcelona. I love learning, specially languages. I plan to have my own business before the age of 26, attend the Soccer World Cup in Brazil in 2014, and become a more virtuous man able to help those less fortunate and make an impact on the Latino Community. I will say farewell with my father's favorite quote "A man of courage is never afraid."

Adios Amigos,
Armando Jesus Aguilar Rodriguez
